This is the second blogpost from my recent trip to New York, focussing on my inspiring finds in the world of Design and Decor. High on my ‘must visit’ list was the New York Design Center. This historic building houses nearly 100 showrooms representing some of the country’s finest furniture, fabric and accessories brands. It is open to the public but is mainly used by interior designers to show clients various products, all under the one roof. Such a brilliant idea. I was in interior nirvana! My first stop was the Kravet showroom with a fabric library of my dreams.
Love the colours on this chair.
Nailhead detail.
The Aerin Lauder showroom was a favourite. Her lighting range is gorgeous.
The kitchen showrooms displayed some beautiful joinery. The Wolf oven was pretty special too.
The Americans have a wonderful sense of detail in their designs.
I recently shared a blogpost (here) featuring illustrator Caitlin McGauley’s work. I loved seeing her new wallpaper range in the flesh at Studio Four NYC.
Next stop was the Waterworks Bathroom showroom to get some inspiration for the new build. It did not disappoint.
My obsession with sconce lighting was confirmed.
The Waterworks Kitchen showroom left me in awe. Here is the range of door cabinetry colours. I choose grey!
I visited some furniture stores such as Ethan Allen. The leopard print chair caught my eye.
The Mood Fabrics store has an extensive collection of Home Decor fabrics which are so reasonably priced and available to the public. I bought some blue ikat to re-upholster an armchair. I’ll post some photos once it’s finished.
I shared some images in last week’s blog of the interior of the flagship Ralph Lauren store. This is their new coffee shop on the top level. I love everything about it from the Penny Round floor tiles to the white joinery and marble countertop.
The coffee shop lead into their book store which felt more like a residential library room. Just beautiful.
Well, that’s all for my New York summary. It really is an amazing city for so many reasons. There are always new things to discover and for me it’s the details that I love and appreciate.
