Is white actually a colour? Google this question and there are many different responses from artists and scientists alike. Not getting bogged down in technicalities, I am more interested in how the colour white looks and makes me feel when used in a space. I find that too much white makes a room feel stark and cold, and I start searching for any little element of colour. Although, when used cleverly white can be beautiful and sophisticated. By adding texture through layers of soft furnishings such as a plush rug, throw or cushions, the room can be softened. White is most commonly used in kitchens and bathrooms where it provides a sense of cleanliness and purity.
What I love most about white is how it can make other colours ‘pop’.
