Mirrors are such a wonderful and relatively inexpensive design tool. Over the past few years I have unknowingly started a collection and each of my mirrors has its’ own purpose, helping me solve a decorating ‘dilemma’.
Here are my 10 tips for decorating with mirrors.
1. Increase Natural Light
In a darker space such as an entrance or hallway, hang a mirror above a dresser or console table to increase natural light.

2. Add Ambience
By placing a mirror behind a light source such as a lamp or candles, it will maximise the light’s reach and create a beautiful glow.

3. Wardrobe Glamour
If you are lucky enough to have the space, a feature mirror can be a glamorous addition to a closet.

5. Complementary Metallics
A mirror can be the key piece to tie in metallic elements in a room.
6. Wallpapered Walls
Sometimes it can be tricky to find suitable artwork to hang on a wallpapered wall. A mirror can be the perfect solution as it does not compete with the pattern.

7. Perfect Vignette
Add a console, flowers and a few co-ordinating accessories with a mirror to create the perfect vignette.
8. Bathroom Beauty
Create some interest in a bathroom or powder room by adding a feature mirror.
9. Mirrors As Artwork
Prior to selling our previous home, we had an empty space on the wall above an armchair. I didn’t want to invest a lot of money to finish the space. This trio of round mirrors was inexpensive and did the trick.
10. Enhance A View
Whether it’s indoors or in a garden space, use a mirror to reflect a beautiful view.

And why wouldn’t you choose a mirrored kitchen splashback if you had the view that Jennifer Hawkins had in her previous apartment?
