Colour My Kitchen

One of my favourite aspects of American interiors is their embracing of colour. Colour in furniture, on the walls and my favourite, on cabinetry. By painting these surfaces, a whole new look is achieved. I know a lot of people would feel apprehensive about painting their entire kitchen a colour other than a shade of white, but these kitchens show it’s worth the risk.

Even a ‘safer’ neutral shade looks gorgeous.

I love the brass hardware against this sage colour in this kitchen.

Another option is to paint the island bench a contrasting colour. It provides some interest against the white.

It can also add a splash of personality to your kitchen.

If you don’t have an island, using a different colour on the lower cabinets can have a similar effect.

Otherwise a dark timber for the island provides a classic and beautiful look.

As for me, I’m still not 100% on how brave I will be with my new kitchen but I do know there will be colour!
